Grand Valley 2050 RTP Future Transportation Projects
The 2050 Regional Transportation Plan outlines future transportation projects, categorized to reflect funding availability and regional priorities. This plan distinguishes between projects that can be realistically funded with existing and projected revenue and those projects that represent improvements requiring additional resources. To effectively manage this, projects are divided into three categories, Priority Tier 1: Funded, Priority Tier 2: Unfunded, and Aspirational.
Prioritized Active Transportation and Transit Corridors
Prioritized Active Transportation Corridors will help to focus bicycle, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure investments at the regional level. By and large, these are a selection of corridors already identified by local governments. Active transportation infrastructure is present in some areas while in other areas gaps exist or there is no infrastructure. RTPO supports improving these corridors to the latest bikeway, sidewalk, and trail design standards regardless of whether or not facilities currently exist

About the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)
The RTP sets the path for the next 25 years!
Every five years the Regional Transportation Planning Office updates the long-range transportation plan for Mesa County. Over the past 7 months, we have worked with staff, stakeholders and the public to update the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan so that we are Moving Swiftly to 2050 for the residents and visitors to Mesa County.
The update ensures the following:
- That the vision, goals, and priorities reflect the desires of the community.
- That the region is in compliance with Federal regulations in order to qualify for Federal transportation funding.
- That projects (roadway, multimodal, etc.) are appropriately prioritized and fiscally constrained for implementation.
- That data used to inform the process is up to date and accurate to support the decision making process.
