About the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)
The RTP sets the path for the next 25 years!
Every five years the Regional Transportation Planning Office updates the long-range transportation plan for Mesa County. Over the next 7 months, we will be working with staff, stakeholders and the public to update the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan so that we are Moving Swiftly to 2050 for the residents and visitors to Mesa County.
The update ensures the following:
- That the vision, goals, and priorities reflect the desires of the community.
- That the region is in compliance with Federal regulations in order to qualify for Federal transportation funding.
- That projects (roadway, multimodal, etc.) are appropriately prioritized and fiscally constrained for implementation.
- That data used to inform the process is up to date and accurate to support the decision making process.
Draft 2050 Vision Statement
Travel in the Grand Valley will be on well-maintained corridors for users of all ages and abilities and will be safe and accessible for those who drive, walk, bike, roll, take transit, deliver freight or travel by other modes.
Engagement Opportunities
Pop-Up Events, Workshops, and Other Opportunities
Mesa County RTPO Staff and the Consultant team are working with jurisdiction staff and the public to inform the plan. This is being done through Focus Groups, Steering Committee Meetings, Public Open Houses, Pop-up Events and Online Surveys and Interactive Maps. Our initial set of pop-up events and public workshops has been completed. There are still opportunities to engage virtually – check out the survey and the interactive maps below to add your thoughts!
Interactive Maps
Proposed Priority and Aspirational Roadway Projects
Input was recently gathered on roadway projects throughout the region that are considered a regional priority and regionally significant. This input will help to prioritize these projects for inclusion in the plan and funding considerations. Smaller, local projects and maintenance projects are not included in this list.
Prioritized Active Transportation and Transit Corridors
This map will help to focus bicycle, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure investments at the regional level. Smaller, local active transportation projects may not be included, however, the Mesa County RTPO is supportive of plans adopted by local governments that aim to improve these networks.
Timeline & Schedule
The progress of the RTP production process are shown below.
